DescriptionD.1:
Baluster-shaped vase with a tall, narrow neck, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze polychrome enamels and gilt. The exterior of the neck features an underglaze blue cell-diaper band with traces of gilt scrollwork below it. On one side, within an elongated reserve, is a polychrome enamel scene of several figures in a garden; the corner of a building with a moon window appears at the upper left and behind it is a banana tree. On the opposite side, within an elongated reserve, is a polychrome enamel scene of several figures in a garden; the front corner of an open pavilion appears at the upper left and a cherry tree appears at the upper right. Scattered across the ground of the vase are anhua or incised, white-on-white butterflies, flowers, and foliage; the ground between these motifs is filled with underglaze blue fish roe-diaper.

D.2:
Domed lid with outward-flaring rim and a standing lion-of-Fo knop on a shallow foot ring, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze polychrome enamels and gilt. The shoulder has two shaped reserves, outlined in gilt, overglaze polychrome enamel garden scenes; on one side, a single figure holds a stick while a dog stands waiting; on the other side, two seated figures are depicted, one of which holds a fan or paddle and appears to bat at a butterfly or ball. Scattered across the ground of the dome are anhua or incised, white-on-white butterflies, flowers, and foliage; the ground between these motifs is filled with underglaze blue fish roe-diaper. An underglaze blue cell-diaper border ornaments the edge of the rim. The inside of the lid is glazed; the base of lid has been left unglazed. The knop is gilded.
