DescriptionCylindrical mug with a molded, dragon-shaped handle on a flat, unglazed foot, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze polychrome enamels and gilt. The rim is gilded and around the top of the exterior is an underglaze blue cell-diaper band framed. On the front of the mug, within an underglaze blue scrollwork frame, is a polychrome enamel scene depicting two seated figures in the foreground and two standing figures in the background with a corner of a building visible in the left background. On either side of the handle are two underglaze blue framed reserves containing an iron red and black enamel scene of a bird on a branch. Between these two reserves is a sepia landscape scene. The ground surrounding all of the reserves features underglaze blue and polychrome floral sprigs and iron red fishroe diaper fill. Around the bottom of the exterior is a double blue line. The face of the dragon handle is gilded, an underglaze blue budding stem decorates its back, its eyes and crest are picked out in blue, and its sides are picked out in iron red.
