DescriptionThis print is a portrait format sheet with two images. The upper image is of the tombs of George and Martha Washington inside of their mausoleum. The lower image is a landscape view of a sailing boat on the Potomac.

MarkingsPrinted in ink above the images: "172", "Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper.", "[May 1, 1886.". Printed in ink the above the tombs in the upper image: "I am the resurrection, / and the life saith the Lord / he that believeth in me, though / he never died yet shall live: / And whoever liveth and / believeth in me shall never die / St John XI 25 26". Printed in ink on the left tomb in the upper image: "Martha / Consort of / Washington / Died May 21st 1801 / Ages 71 Years." Printed in ink on the right tomb in the upper image: "Washington / George Washington". Printed in ink below the images: "1. Interior of the Tomb of Washington. 2. Mount Vernon from the Potomac River. / Visit of the Seventh Regiment, N.Y.S.N.G., to Mount Vernon, April 21st. / From a sketch by Jos. Becker. - See Page 166.". Printed in ink on the reverse of the sheet are four columns of text, which touch on various news subjects such as cyclones in Minnesota, lumberman, news in the Arts & Sciences, and news at home and abroad.
