DescriptionThis print is a portrait format sheet with two images. The upper image is of the tombs of George and Martha Washington inside of their mausoleum. The lower image is a landscape view of a sailing boat on the Potomac. MarkingsPrinted in ink above the images: "172", "Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper.", "[May 1, 1886.".
Printed in ink the above the tombs in the upper image: "I am the resurrection, / and the life saith the Lord / he that believeth in me, though / he never died yet shall live: / And whoever liveth and / believeth in me shall never die / St John XI 25 26".
Printed in ink on the left tomb in the upper image: "Martha / Consort of / Washington / Died May 21st 1801 / Ages 71 Years."
