DescriptionThis is the steel printing plate for an early view of Mount Vernon. The plate is in landscape format and depicts the southeast facades of the Mount Vernon mansion. In the foreground of the images are a number of trees framing the house. Included in the image of the house is a view of the palladian window, piazza, Chinese Chippendale balustrade, cupola, and north covered walkway. In the background is a view of two boats on the Potomac. As a printing plate the image appears in reverse to its resulting prints. 1895
