American, 1788 - 1854
BiographyStrickland was born in 1788 in Navesink, NJ. He would have an extremely broad artistic carrer, being a landscape painter, illustrator, theatrical scene painter, engraver and a pioneer of aquatints. He is most well known, however, for his monumental accomplishments in architecture, being one of the founders of the Greek Revival movement.
