Prévost was born in Paris in 1744. He became a respected engraver, with his most famous work being the frontispiece of "Encyclopédie, ou dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers, par une Société de gens de lettres" by Denis Diderot, and Jacques D'alembert. He died in 1804.
