DescriptionCircular plate with a plain, flat rim edged in brown on a shallow foot ring. The plate is decorated in the Imari palette with underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron red enamels and gilt. Centered in the well is a plantain or banana tree rising above a garden with a rockery, tree peony, and fence. A dragonfly flys away at upper right. The sides of the well feature a trellis-diaper band with four reserves of flowers, while the rim has three large sprays of trailing peonies.Pattern Names: Plantain
