DescriptionGlazed earthenware plate molded into a circular form with a shallow well and wide, flat, scalloped rim, decorated in transfer printed blue. The central reserve contains a modern depiction of Mount Vernon’s East Front, including the balustrade above the piazza, the south porch, south colonnade, and kitchen dependency. Below the central image are the words “Mount Vernon”. The rim features four reserves with c-scrolls enclosing a floral spray, alternating with four pairs of roses on a dark blue ground.MarkingsPrinted on obverse, center bottom, under glaze: "Mount Vernon".
Printed on the reverse, under glaze: a badge of C-scrolls, acanthus, and bellflowers: “George Washington / Bicentenary / Memorial / Plates / 1732-1932 / First in Peace / First in War / First in the Hearts of His Countrymen”. Below the badge is a crown above the words “Crown Ducal / England”.
