DescriptionBronze die-struck medal featuring two standing figures on the obverse and a battle scene on the reverse.

Obverse: Figure of Daniel Morgan on right crowned by female Native American on left. Implements of war behind Native American and a forest to which Morgan points behind him. Inscribed: “DANIELI MORGAN DUCI EXERCITUS”; inscribed in exergue: “COMITIA AMERICANA. / dupre f.”

Reverse: Battle scene featuring Daniel Morgan astride horse on right charging towards retreating British army on left. Morgan followed by infantrymen carrying muskets and two flags featuring the Great Seal of the United States and stripes. British soldier carries a flag featuring Royal Arms of England on the left. British surrounded by billowing smoke. Inscribed: “VICTORIA LIBERTATIS VINDEX”; below exergue line, “FVGATIS CAPTIS AVT CAESIS / AD COWPENS HOSTIBUS / XVII. JAN. MDCCLXXXI / DUPRE INV ET F.”
