DescriptionThis print is an image of a memorial statue to George Washington below a weeping willow bearing his image. An angel leans against the memorial in mourning. To the right is a depiction of a boat sailing on water, and to the left is a deptiction of a grand house, likely meant to be Mount Vernon.
SignedPrinted in ink below the bottom-left corner of the image: "Engraved and published by S. Wood, Woodstock, Vt".
MarkingsPrinted in ink above the portrait image of Washington: "Sacred to / the Memory / of Gen. Geo. / Washington / Died, Dec. 14, / 1799. Aged 67". Printed in ink below the portrait image of Washington: "The willows weep and sorrowing wave, / In memory of the Illustrious brave.”
