DescriptionHorizontal, rectangular view of the east front of Mount Vernon. The mansion occupies the far right. A path extending from the lower right to the entrance of the mansion frames the right side of the image. Three figures – a man, a woman, and a child – stand on the east lawn with their backs to the viewer, gazing at the Potomac in the background. Additional figures can be seen beneath a grove of trees on the lawn and to the left of the piazza. In the sky above the river, beams of sunlight stream from behind a cloud.
