DescriptionHistorical scene of George Washington visiting his mother. In the center of the image stands Washington, dressed in a black coat, holding his mother's hands as she looks up into his eyes. Washington's mother is stooped from age and wears a number of layers of clothing over her dress, and a cap. Next to Washington is a dog. The meeting takes place in a simply furnished room, with a landscape painting on the wall, a table with a chair behind the figures, and a chair to the left of Washington's mother. Below the main image and surrounded by text is a small image of a colonial style cottage.
