DescriptionFull length portrait of George Washington standing on a cliff overlooking the Hudson River. He stands in a contrapposto pose and is wearing a military uniform. In his left hand he holds a hat, and in his right hand he holds a scroll. Behind him sitting on a horse is a young African-American man. In the background at right can be seen the fortress at West Point and several small ships on the river.
