DescriptionVertical, rectangular bust-length portrait of General George Washington. Washington wears a uniform with a sash across his chest. His head is slightly turned to the viewer’s left, but his gaze remains on the viewer. Washington is enclosed within an oval frame which rests on a ledge. Below the ledge is a plaque with the words: “GEORGE WASHINGTON,/Commander in Chief/of the AMERICAN ARMY.”
