DescriptionBaluster-shaped jug with an acanthus-molded spout and cusped and scrolled, ear-shaped handle decorated with white sprig-molded or sprigged ornament on it blue-dipped neck and body. An applied grape vine encircles the short, cylindrical neck. The front of the jug, underneath the spout, features a pair of hands clasped in front of a caduceus, flanked by cornucopias with a ribbon below emblazoned “Peace & Plenty” picked out in black. Centered on one side of the body within an oval reserve defined by a thin line of molding is an eagle displayed with an arc of thirteen stars and cloud scrolls above it, a ribbon in its beak emblazoned “E Pluribus Unum”, a striped shield on its breast, a bundle of arrows in its proper right talon, and an olive branch in its proper left talon. Centered on the other side within an oval reserve defined by a thin line of molding is a sprig-molded profile portrait of a man in a tall hat, flanked by laurel branches, with an arc of thirteen six-pointed stars above. The base of the body is engine-turned. The foot is flat and unglazed.
