DescriptionEquestrian military portrait of George Washington astride a rearing horse with his left hand on the reins and a telescope in his right. The scene is set at the edge of the Delaware River. In the background near the upper-right corner of the image there are marching soldiers and in the bottom-right are soldiers boarding boats and rowing across the river. Behind washington are hills with bare trees. The horse has an ornate set of battle tack with a 'W' emblazoned and an eagle with lightning bolts in it's talons.
