DescriptionTall, circular teacup with a double ogee scalloped rim, straight sides rounded at bottom, a C-shaped or ear-shaped handle with two knobs at top, all on a on a high foot ring. The cup is transfer-printed in underglaze cobalt blue and has a gilded rim. The sides of the cup feature a right-anchored landscape with a pavilion complex, willow tree, and the fronds of a branch emerging at right along the side. A single-masted ship appears in the river at center and there is a flat-top bridge in the foreground at bottom. The rim interior has a ban of diagonal dashes, a starred network band, a “rain and cloud” border of diagonal dashes and a scalloped line, a gilded line, and a final, lower band of spearheads and double dots. The back of the handle is decorated with underglaze blue scrollwork and gilt and the knobs at the top of the handle are picked out in gilt.
