DescriptionHalf-length portrait of George Washington, carved in low relief in squarish marble tablet. Subject is attired in civilian suit with ruffled stock, with body and head facing slightly to the proper right; seated in interior setting, with drapery and a straight crest rail of chair in the background. A carved foliate border runs along the sides and top of the portrait image; the bottom border is undecorated, suggesting a ledge or sill. The marble tablet is housed in a black-painted wooden frame.
