DescriptionFaceted and engraved signet ring of 14 karat yellow gold, with a hinged top containing a bevel edge octagonal bloodstone measuring about 7.00 mm. x 9:00, covering a locked compartment containing woven hair under a crystal. The ring descended in the family of Eleanor Calvert Custis Stuart, who was willed a mourning ring by George Washington, and by family lore, the hair belonged to George Washington.
