This diminuitive set of teawares may resemble the "Set of China (for a little Miss) the Cups and Saucers to be small" purchased for Martha Custis, Mrs. Washington's daughter, in 1765.

DescriptionMiniature circular cup with a plain rim, straight sides rounded at bottom, and a C-shaped or ear-shaped handle on a shallow foot ring, decorated in overglaze polychrome enamels in the famille rose palette and gilt. Around the exterior is a figural scene with a figure holding a stick aloft with an object suspended from it, a child reaching for the object, and another figure standing in front of a table in the background at upper left. A plain red line with a row of red dots below encircles the rim exterior. The top of the handle is touched with red.
