This diminuitive set of teawares may resemble the "Set of China (for a little Miss) the Cups and Saucers to be small" purchased for Martha Custis, Mrs. Washington's daughter, in 1765.

DescriptionMiniature teapot with a globular body, straight spout, and ear-shaped handle, on a shallow foot ring. Low-domed, circular lid with a pointed bud knop. The teapot and lid are decorated in overglaze polychrome enamels in the famille rose palette and gilt. On each side of the teapot is a figural scene with a rabbit at center, two children on the left, one of which holds another rabbit, and a seated figure playing an instrument with another figure standing behind on the right. The lid features a child holding a rabbit on the right side of the dome, another child on the left, a barrel seat below, and a butterfly or insect above. A plain red line with a row of red dots below encircles the mouth of the teapot and the rim of the lid. The edge of the spout and the knop on the lid are gilded.
