DescriptionHistorical scene of the surrender of Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis to the combined American and French forces. In the middle of the frame stands Brigadier General Charles O'Hara, who extends a sword hilt first to the opposing commanders in a sign of surrender. On the left are the British forces, with mounted troops in the background, and infantry in the foreground. The combined French and American forces are on the right side of the frame, with Comte de Deuxponts nearest O'Hara.
