John Robinson was an English miniaturist who traveled to Philadelphia by or before 1817, and created at least two dozen portraits before his death there in 1829. He studied with the artist Benjamin West, and exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts annually between 1816 and 1824, with the exception of 1820. Among his subjects were Benjamin West and William Bingham.
