Asaph Willard was born in Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1786. He is believed to have studied with Abner Reed. In 1799 he was working in Hartford, CT, but soon after was working in Albany, NY. He eventually came back to Hartford, CT where he was a member of the Hartford Graphic and Bank Note Company. He died in Hartford in 1880.
