DescriptionRectangular leather trunk with a domed lid featuring a pinked, scalloped skirt, and a tacked design of four open diamonds at the front center of the base flanked by two tacked, solid diamond shapes. The lower front and side edges of the lid and the sides of the front, lid, and back, are outlined in strips of leather held down with a continuous line of brass tacks. Two strips of leather with brass tacks on the lid and front divide each into four panels. A brass bail handle with circular backplates is screwed to the center top of the lid. A lock is mounted at the top center of the front panel of the trunk. Two sets of brass hinges (replaced) join the lid and base at their back edges. The inside of the lid and base are each lined in two layers of wallpaper. On each half, the first printed paper features black hexagons. On the lid, the second paper features a repeating printed pattern of wide gold stripes outlined in blue, paired thin gold stripes and lines of diamonds, and thin blue stripes. On the base, the second, printed paper features large bouquets of roses separated by wide stripes of thin gold lines within a scalloped outside borders.
