DescriptionSquare-back side chair having a beaded crest rail with fluted tablet at center, three pierced and carved urn or vasiform splats with leaf-carved capitals, a serpentine-front seat with swelled sides upholstered over the rails, and square, tapered front legs with spade feet. Sweeped or slightly concave back. Bead-molded crest rail, stiles and stay rail with rounded backs. Raked back rear legs. Rear seat rail veneered. Two medial braces half as deep as the rails are dovetailed into place. Modern replaced corner blocks at all corners.Upholstered over the rails in black, striped haircloth. Two rows of decorative tacks, along the upper and lower edge of the front and side seat rails, a single row of tacks along the upper edge of the rear seat rail.
