DescriptionBuff or light brown silk damask fragment of a woman's gown skirt or petticoat, woven in a large-scale pattern of asymmetrical scrolling flowers and leaves. The selvedge-to-selvedge width fragment has a pocket-slit at the top center, and retains the folds where it was originally pleated along the top. Serpentine lines of stitch holes across the lower portion of the fragment suggest it originally had trimming attached. The back of the pocket opening and the hem are lined with a 3/4" tape.
