DescriptionBlack-painted armchair with caned, rectangular back and trapezoidal seat with two, turned front legs with spool tops and tapered, cylindrical feet and two, square, tapered, swept-back rear legs. The back and sloped arms are molded with a pair of half-rounds on their outside edges and an inner fillet. Below the caned back, the stiles are cylindrical with a series of four ring-turnings at top and bottom. A plain, rectangular rail is mounted at the back of the chair just above the seat. The arms are supported on ringed-column-and-cylinder-turned supports. The front and sides of the seat frame are beaded along their top and bottom edges; the seat frame is double-pegged at front and single-pegged on the sides and back. The cane mortises within the back frame have been plugged with strips of an unidentified softwood.
