DescriptionOctagonal platter with notched or indented corners and a flat, unglazed foot, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue. Centered in the well is a left-anchored landscape with a tall, two-story building within a walled enclosure with a grove of bamboo and a large pine tree to its right. A large figure holding a parasol and facing left crosses the strip of land at center, and a flock of birds in triangular formation appears in the background at top center. The sides of the well feature a scroll-spearhead border. The rim has a complex outer border with scallop shells, scrolls, and fish-roe diaper at each corner with scale-diaper between them, and an inner border of flowers and foliage. Pattern Name: A generally accepted name for the design on this object has not been recorded in the standard reference works.
