Bowl
This wooden bowl was one of five listed in the "Store Room in the Garrett" at Mount Vernon in the inventory taken after Martha Washington's death in 1802. Wooden wares were among the most common objects used for food preparation in households of all income levels in the eighteenth century. This vessel's association with the Washington family ensured its survival long after it had ceased to be used.
