DescriptionA transfer-printed creamware jug with handle and spout. One side features a cartouche with George Washington standing on the neck of a lion on a shoreline with American soldiers and an American ship in the background. The cartouche is surrounded by implements of war and a banner with an inscription. The other side features a bust-length image of Washington in a central cartouche surrounded by allegorical figures and emblems of liberty. The cartouche is surrounded by a banner with the names of fifteen states, fifteen stars, and a bald eagle derived from the Great Seal of the United States.
