DescriptionA colorless blown and cut glass mantel ornament in the shape of an urn with a white cameo sulphide inclusion of George Washington. The cameo is set within an oval medallion surrounded by small cut facets, while sharp diamonds are cut on the reverse to create a background for the cameo. The sides of the piece are cut with deep rows of strawberry diamonds. Fine shoulder cuts define the shoulder and the neck. The finial has a star-cut top above graduated rows of sharp diamonds. The foot has a straight, flat edge slightly beveled at the top and bottom, and the base is cut in a star pattern. The bust of George Washington is derived from one of many copies of an engraving by Joseph Wright.
