DescriptionRectangular tile printed in brown on white ground. On the obverse: a view of the Mount Vernon Mansion from the southeast, showing piazza with balustrade, cupola, south porch, and young tree next to the porch. At the top of the composition is a circular trademark, with the words “JONES MCDUFFEE & STRATTON” arching above an equine figure; at the bottom of the composition, to the left, are the words: “1744 Mount Vernon 1892 / The Home of Washington”; to the right: “WEDGWOOD / ETRURIA / ENGLAND”. On the reverse: a calendar for the year 1892, above which is the word “Calendar” in script, and below, the words: Jones McDuffee & Stratton / Pottery Merchants, Boston, USA” in script.

There is a small round hole through the tile, to the left of the Mansion, from the obverse. The narrow red silk ribbon laced through the hole is presumably a later addition.

Chief Curator, Adam Erby removed the ribbon on February 10, 2023.
