DescriptionStuffed, miniature figure representing George Washington, mounted on three layers of wool cut into a shape suggesting a military epaulet. The figure is shown in profile, facing proper right; it is dressed in a black velvet coat, white waistcoat, white ruffled shirt, blue knee breeches, white stockings, black buckled shoes, and black bi-corner hat trimmed with gold braid. The face and left hand are constructed of paper, and the gray hair, plaited into a long braid, appears to be possibly real hair. The epaulet-shaped mount consists of one layer of red wool on top of two dark blue layers; each layer has scallop-cut edges. The red and top blue layers are elongated ovals; the bottom blue layer is gathered into a circular rosette at the lower end of the assemblage.
