This shoe horn may have been owned by George Washington. The practical tool, used to slip one's foot into a shoe, was carved from a single animal horn.

DescriptionShoe horn carved from animal horn; arched and hollowed at the broad end to form a curve that would correspond to the heel; a vegetable fiber, knit cord runs through a hole pierced in the base of the conical handle at the end of the shoe horn and is tied in a knot.
