DescriptionHorizontal, rectangular view of the east front of Mount Vernon. The mansion appears at the upper right of the image. The lawn in front of the mansion slopes down towards the Potomac River on the left where three sailing vessels are visible. There are clusters of trees on the slope and in the left and right foreground. There are two fences that follow the line of the slope and terminate in a “V” pattern. Also in the foreground are two men, one of whom seems to carry a rifle. A cluster of clouds is visible on the upper right and wispy clouds along the horizon.
