DescriptionFull-length portrait of George Washington dressed in a black coat and holding a sword in his left hand, with his right hand extended in front of him. He is set in a room with columns in the background and drapery above. Behind Washington is a chair with the seal of the United States on its crest, and on the left is a table draped with a carpet supporting an inkwell, paper, and hat.
