DescriptionFull length portrait of George Washington, set in a tropical landscape, with Washington standing on a cliff overlooking a river. Washington stands in a contrapposto pose, and is wearing a military uniform. In his left hand he holds a hat, and in his right he has a scroll. Behind him on the cliff is a palm tree, and below him on the river are boats, that look to be out of scale. Across the river is another palm tree also out of scale, and on the horizon are figures costumed in Spanish or Chinese dress. Published in P. J. B
